Where’s the missing Board Minutes and Report on the suspended President?

ree

(October 10, 2025) Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) has failed to post Board minutes from meetings on June 24th and August 18th, and has also not yet posted a report into the suspension of MNBC President Walter Mineault even though it has been almost two months since he was suspended. Why the total lack of transparency?

Why haven’t the minutes from the June 24th regular Board meeting been posted? What is in those minutes that is resulting in the minutes not being posted by MNBC? MNBC Citizens have every right to know what the Board is discussing and making decisions on. MNBC posted the minutes from meetings in early June and in late July but nothing from June 24th. The Board also met on August 18th, but those minutes also haven’t been posted yet. What is going on?

When Mineault was suspended on August 18th, the Vice President and current Interim President Melanie Allard announced that MNBC would be launching an independent review of Mineault’s time as President. She went on to say that “The findings of the review will assist the Board of Directors in determining if Mr. Mineault remains in his position. Those results will be made public.”

So where is the report? After nearly two months, why is it taking so long for the report to be completed? What are they not telling us?

In the meantime, here’s some other questions that MNBC Citizens should be asking Board members:

  • Is Mineault still getting paid his $180,000 annual salary?

  • Has he returned his fancy new SUV that MNBC bought for him in March?

  • Has he returned his MNBC computer and his MNBC cell phone?

  • Has he returned his MNBC credit card?

  • Has he ended all contact with MNBC staff?

Former MNBC President Clara Morin DalCol asks, “Why has this Board not released the minutes of the June 24th and August 18th meetings, and what is taking so long with the review of Mineault?”

She says, “This non-profit organization claims to be a government, but given their lack of transparency on governance and financial issues they are not a government and will never be a government.”
