Membership open to true Métis in British Columbia who have a Métis ancestral connection within the last 4 generations, and proof of the connection must exist within the applicant’s genealogy.

A proud Métis Leader who is President of Red River Métis British Columbia

She was the first woman elected President of Métis Nation British Columbia in September 2016. She was re-elected in September 2020 before being wrongly removed from office in January 2021

Prior to being elected as MNBC President she was elected as Provincial Métis Women's Chair in 2012

At the National level, Métis National Council President Clément Chartier appointed Clara as National Métis Minister of Health, and National Métis Minister for Culture, Heritage and Families. She held those portfolios from 2016 through to 2022

Clara was born in Ile-a-la-Crosse, Saskatchewan, and Michif was the first language spoken at home. She spent her early years there in the Métis community until moving with her family to Hay River, NWT

Today, she and her husband Dennis reside in the Columbia Valley, in southeastern BC

Clara and Dennis have two daughters and two grandchildren, and Clara loves sharing her Métis upbringing and culture with them so that they too are proud of their Métis heritage
