Where’s that report on Mineault and other important accountability questions

(January 15, 2026) A month ago the Board of Directors of Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) suddenly reinstated Walter Mineault as President after he had been suspended for four months by the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee had actioned the suspension after having, in their words “…received complaints about behaviour inconsistent with our policies and the public also brought information forward to the Executive for consideration”.

So where’s the report on the complaints about Mineault that was being prepared by an independent reviewer? It was to be posted on the MNBC website for everyone to see. So where is it? Why hasn’t it been released?

When former MNBC President Clara Morin DalCol was removed in a coup by a majority of Board members back in January 2021 (most of whom are still on this Board) there was no hesitation in posting a report on the trumped up allegations against her, so where’s the report on Mineault?

Here’s some other very relevant questions about accountability:

  • Where are the MNBC Board minutes from the November meeting showing what decisions the Board made? And what about the Board minutes from the December meeting when a majority of the Board voted to reinstate him? Where are those minutes showing who from the Board voted to end his suspension?

  • What is the current salary of Mineault plus other benefits, including his MNBC paid for 2025 SUV? How much MNBC money was spent on his travel and accommodation last year? And what about the salaries, benefits and travel for the other Board members? They all got a salary increase last April 1st – will they get another one this April 1st?

  • What is the current salary, reimbursements and cost of benefits for the Chief Executive Officer – Colette Trudeau? As of March 2025 her annual salary and reimbursements had totaled nearly $300,000 including an $8400 annual car allowance.

  • On September 18, 2025, MNBC launched a new business development arm called the Métis Prosperity Group. Its website shows MNBC’s Chief Executive Officer is the CEO of the Métis Prosperity Group, MNBC’s Chief Financial Officer Anna Maione is the CFO, and MNBC’s Chief Relations Officer Peter Csicsai is the Managing Director. Do any of these individuals get paid extra money for their roles? In almost 4 months, the website for the Métis Prosperity Group shows not a single new announcement since the original launch. How much money has this new entity generated for MNBC? On the other financial side, how much has been spent on it so far?

  • What has MNBC done with $12.37 million in funding from the federal government’s 2 billion tree program? Have any trees actually been planted by MNBC, and how many Métis people in British Columbia have been employed in the process?

  • Where’s the PR video on ISETS that the MNBC Board approved the production of in March 2025 for more than $353,000? If it is finished, where is it and what was the final cost?

  • How many paid staff did MNBC employ as of December 31, 2025? The number is believed to have grown so large that MNBC for whatever reason has not reported the number in any annual report in more than three years. The actual number is believed to be somewhere between 300 and 400.

Former MNBC President Clara Morin DalCol says, “This Board has to be held accountable for all their decisions and if the Community Presidents won’t ask these questions about expenditures and missing reports, then I will.” She says, “The millions of dollars that MNBC is spending each year are taxpayer dollars intended for the benefit of Métis people in British Columbia. These are not their personal dollars.”

She says, “All Métis people have a right to know what the money is being spent on, and what’s in missing reports.”

Also, as we are about to post, we have received information that indicates that some changes maybe about to take place in senior management of MNBC. We will keep you informed.
