Update on Litigation in BC Supreme Court

(April 13, 2021) Yesterday concluded the two-day hearing in BC Supreme Court of President Clara Morin Dal Col’s application for an interlocutory injunction to allow her to resume her functions and office as President of the Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC). If granted, the injunction would be in effect until a final decision of the Court in her claim challenging decisions of nine members of the MNBC Board of Directors effectively removing her from office, unless the Court later orders otherwise. The hearing also considered applications brought by the Defendants seeking to end or temporarily halt President Morin Dal Col’s claim.

At the end of the hearing, Justice Andrew Mayer set May 14, at 9 am, for the delivery of his oral reasons on the applications. However, he noted that it was possible he would issue written reasons in advance of that date.
