(April 10, 2021) President Clara Morin Dal Col has received her vaccine shot against the Covid-19 virus and encourages everyone to get their vaccine shot as soon as they can. The Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) President received her vaccine shot in Golden after booking an appointment with Interior Health.
President Morin Dal Col said, “It was really quite painless and took only a few minutes for the nurse to administer.” She said, “The more Métis people and all British Columbians get vaccinated the quicker we will get through this pandemic and be able to spend time with our families and friends.” President Morin Dal Col added, “This last year has been so challenging for so many people, who have either lost loved ones and friends, or lost their jobs or had to close their businesses, I, like all of you, want to see a return to some normalcy in life.”
The President conveyed appreciation to Prime Minister Trudeau and Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller for the financial support that the federal government has provided to the Métis people in British Columbia to help them cope with the challenges of dealing with the effects of the coronavirus. As the Métis National Minister of Health Morin Dal Col has received regular updates from federal officials on Covid-19 and the progress of vaccinations across the Métis homeland.
President Morin Dal Col also expressed special thanks to Métis National Council (MNC) President Clément Chartier and Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) President David Chartrand for their strong advocacy efforts with the federal government for financial support for Métis people. “These two Métis leaders have always supported my work on behalf of Métis people in British Columbia, and I am most appreciative of our working relationship," said President Morin Dal Col.
